| Under 7 Yellow Sox | 4 |
| Alconbury Colts | 3 |
Weather: Cold and windy
Pitch: Muddy
After having over two weeks away from each other due to bad weather, we all got together to welcome Alconbury for a friendly game.
With no training for over two weeks, strong winds going in one direction and strong sunlight in the other, this was a recipe for disaster.
The teams captain for the day was Harvey Jubb who started the game in goal. Straight from kick off, the team passed well, got the tackles in early and we found ourselves trying to get through a solid Alconbury defence. Suddenly against the run of play, Alconbury managed to catch a weak clearance from our area and put the ball in the back of the net to start off the scoring. 0-1 to Alconbury.
A substitution was made which saw Jamie, Michael and Joseph come on to the field. The team carried on the attack and Jamie saw a chance to bring the game level and took it well. 1-1.
7 minutes left of the second half and another Substitution was made. Jake and Charlie came on for Michael and Joseph. Jake having missed a few chances in the first 7 minutes of the game including a chip over the goalkeeper grabbed a brace in the dying minutes of the first half giving Sawtry a lead of 3-1 at half time. The team where smiling throughout.
The second half began with Sawtry playing against the wind, a few errors in clearing the ball in time and playing the ball across our own box cost us and Alconbury managed to get 2 goals in quick succession. 3-3 was the score line and it remained that way until the 16th minute of the second half when Jake, completing his hat-trick, scored the last goal of the game and securing another win for the team, and having an identical score from our trip away to Alconbury previously. 4-3 to Sawtry in a game played well by both teams in some crazy weather conditions.
Man of the match: Shane for a great performance. Defended well and moved forward with the team in attack.
Runner-up: Jake for yet again finding his striking boots that secured him his second hat-trick in as many games. Jake also ran back and defended well during the game.
